Houston LMTs: bring your table, keep your schedule, get paid weekly
How this works
Morgan Massage Houston sends licensed therapists to clients’ homes, hotels and offices across Houston. You’re an independent contractor, not an employee. You tell the system which hours and which parts of town you’ll work, and it sends you prepaid bookings that fit. The client has already paid before you hear about the job, so there’s no card reader, no invoicing, and no chasing anyone for money. You do the work, and it’s in your account the following Monday.
What you earn
You keep 50% of the service price. That’s $79.50 on a 60-minute session and $109.50 on a 90. Couples bookings pay each of the two therapists $80. Tips are 100% yours. About an hour after each session the client gets a text with a one-tap tip option (18%, 20%, 22% or custom) that pays straight into your Stripe account with your weekly transfer; we cover the card fee. Cash on the spot is yours too. If a client cancels inside 24 hours or isn’t home when you arrive, you’re still paid your 50% for the visit. If a session is refunded because of something on our side, a late arrival or a session cut short, the refund comes out of both halves, yours and ours.
What you need
A Texas massage therapist license in good standing, your own professional liability insurance, a portable table with clean linens and a face cradle, a reliable car, and a smartphone you’ll actually look at. You don’t need a studio, a website, a business name or a client list. If you have a specialty, sports, prenatal, orthopedic, deep tissue, say so; clients can book by modality and by therapist.
How dispatch works
When a client books in your area during your hours, you get a text with the service, the time, the neighborhood and a one-tap Confirm link. You have two hours to tap it, thirty minutes for a same-day booking. If you don’t, nothing happens to you: the job goes to the next therapist and you don’t get a call, a warning or a mark against you. Once you confirm, the client gets your first name, photo and license link, and you get the exact address. Three declines in a row and the system will ask if your hours are still right, which is the only nagging you’ll ever get.
How you get paid
Payouts go through Stripe Connect. You set up your account once, in about ten minutes, and every Monday the previous week’s sessions land in your bank with a statement by email. You’ll get a 1099 at year end. Nothing to submit, nothing to reconcile.
Who’s vetting you, and how
Morgan Sutherland has been a licensed massage therapist in Massachusetts for 25 years, mostly orthopedic and medical work, and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. He built the Houston roster to be small and good rather than long. Before your first booking he verifies your license with TDLR, confirms your insurance, talks with you for half an hour, and books a paid 20-minute chair session with you, $40, at his place in Memorial City. That’s the whole process. If it goes well you’re live the same week. If two clients report a real service failure, a late arrival or a session cut short, you’re off the roster; fit complaints, a client who wanted lighter pressure, are not failures and won’t count against you.
